Investor Insight ACCR Presentation on AGL 2025 CTAP Analysis
ACCR presents our full analysis of AGL’s 2025 Climate Transition Action Plan (CTAP), which faces a ‘Say on Climate’ vote at the October AGM.
The report finds that the 2025 CTAP fails to address the shortcomings of the previous plan. AGL lacks a clear roadmap and targets to demonstrate how it will leverage its market-leading position in Australia’s energy transition.
Necessary improvements in the 2025 CTAP include the introduction of a Scope 3 target, accelerated moves into battery storage, and a welcome commitment by AGL to challenge attempts by its industry associations to slow the energy transition.
Yet, what is missing is an acceleration of the buildout of bulk renewable power to replace retiring coal generation and a sufficiently detailed electrification strategy with meaningful targets. AGL has no plans to cut emissions from gas supply over the next decade – which sits at odds with recent policy signals aimed at diminishing gas use.
ACCR intends to vote AGAINST the Climate Transition Action Plan and executive remuneration at the 2025 AGM.
