Melbourne Launch and Corporate Responsibility Forum 26 November 2013
Highlights of the forum were:
Prof Deborah Ralston from the Australian Centre for Financial Studies describing how the capitalist system works and how we can influence it. Her speech can be found here.
A statement from Dr John Hewson, economist and former federal leader of the Liberal party in support of ACCR and highlighting the issues of carbon pollution and the work of the Asset Owner's Disclosure Project.
Support from parliamentarians from all three political parties in Victorian Parliament. All of them talked about the need for governments to be responsible investors. They covered regulatory issues, budget issues and how investments aligned with public policies.They were represented by:
- Hon Bruce Atkinson MLC President of the Legislative Council - Liberal Party.
- Greg Barber MLC Leader - Victorian Greens
- Brian Tee MLC Shadow Minister for Planning and Sustainable Growth - Labor Party
Mr Steven Lynch spoke about BankMecu's support for ACCR and Ms Caroline Le Couteur spoke about the work of ACCR.
The Master of Ceremonies was Brian Howe AO former deputy Prime Minister.
